Fill footage facts before editorial decisions

short-drama-edit handles existing readable footage. Watch each file fully and record duration, usable intervals and defects before selecting. Stillness, darkness or pauses may serve performance and information.

Original material description: shot A opens a drawer and presents a receipt, then develops hand drift. If the complete handoff precedes drift, that interval may work. If essential receipt detail appears only afterward, request material rather than discarding evidence to avoid the defect.

Separate usability facts from adoption. Usable material may be omitted for repetition. A missing file differs from unusable quality. Provider task success does not establish editable footage.

The native tool uses these Chinese field names; values and subtitle wording follow the project’s approved language. The subtitle means “This is yesterday’s receipt.” Delivery specifications belong above the cut entries. Real source identifiers must match the current storyboard and prompts, and paths must be readable. Example identifiers are not completed production records. Continue with the accepted order or explain a change.

Keep source, segment and output times distinct

With a source in-point of 1.00 seconds and subtitle offset of 0.30, the corresponding source time is 1.30. In the first output segment it appears at 0.30; after 5.00 actual assembled seconds, at 5.30.

Encoding rounds to frame boundaries, so cumulative placement uses rendered durations rather than only planned values. Regeneration can move speech; changing an in-point changes relative timing. Recheck affected subtitles, text and effects.

Subtitle wording follows the script; transcription helps locate it. Required on-screen text has its own content, interval and source. Complex layout or per-shot avoidance needs actual processing and output inspection.

Distinguish instructions, execution and verification

Built-in rendering does not execute sound bridges, music ducking or crossfades written as notes, nor automatically normalize input dimensions and frame rates. Record actual external work, adopted output and new intervals. A written instruction is not completed treatment.

Check interval arithmetic, file bounds, unintended reused frames and complete speech. Partial editing is possible with missing material, but complete delivery requires a clear gap list. A timestamp only signals changed footage, not retimed subtitles.

Listen to joins, inspect evidence and responses, then measure delivery requirements. The list supports reproduction and local revisions; it does not replace judgments about performance or pace. Preserve unaffected segment identities and decisions.

FAQ

Will render execute music ducking written in the list?

The pinned version does not. The sound line is descriptive. Execute the treatment in an external editor or mixer, record the result and inspect it rather than treating the note as processing.

Do it with the skill

Use short-drama-edit to create an edit list from existing footage. Record usability first, then real sources, boundaries, reasons and relative subtitle times. Distinguish pending sound notes from actual external work and list gaps.
