trope / formula (Oh Story's emotional-payoff framing)

Definition

套路 (tào lù) is a familiar, reusable story pattern in web fiction, translated as 'trope' or 'formula'. Oh Story sums up its craft framework as 套路 = 确定性的情绪满足 ('a trope is dependable emotional satisfaction'): studying a trope means working out which emotional payoff the pattern is built to deliver.
