Materials Library
The Materials Library is one of zenstory's signature features, allowing you to upload reference novels and use AI for intelligent decomposition and analysis, learning excellent writing techniques, character development, and plot design to provide inspiration and reference for your creation.
What is the Materials Library?

The Materials Library is a reference material management center with core functions including:
- Upload Novels - Supports uploading .txt format reference novel texts
- AI Auto-Decomposition - System automatically identifies and extracts chapter structures, character information, plot lines, world-building settings, and special abilities (golden fingers)
- Intelligent Analysis - AI performs deep analysis on extracted content to generate structured reference data
Through the Materials Library, you can:
- Learn writing techniques and narrative structures from excellent novels
- Analyze character development methods and, when enabled, reference relationship design
- Understand world-building and power system design
- Study plot pacing control and arrangement
Upload Novels
Supported Formats
The Materials Library currently supports the following formats:

Tips:
- We recommend uploading well-formatted novels with clear chapters for better decomposition results
- File size recommended between 1-50MB; larger files take longer to process
Upload Steps

- Click the "Upload Novel" button in the top right corner of the Materials Library page
- In the popup dialog, click the file selection area or drag and drop files directly
- Select the .txt file to upload
- (Optional) Enter the novel title; if left blank, the filename will be used as the title
- Click the "Start Upload" button
After upload completes, the system will automatically start the AI decomposition process.
Processing Status

Each uploaded material displays its current processing status:

Processing Duration:
Processing time depends on the novel's length and complexity:
- Short stories (under 100k words): approximately 2-5 minutes
- Medium-length stories (100-300k words): approximately 5-15 minutes
- Long novels (over 300k words): approximately 15-60 minutes
You can leave the page during processing; the system will continue processing in the background.
AI Decomposition Results
When material processing is complete, click on the material card to enter the details page and view the various AI-decomposed content.
Chapter Structure

AI automatically identifies the novel's chapter divisions and generates for each chapter:
- Chapter Number - Sequential chapter number
- Chapter Title - Identified or generated chapter title
- Chapter Summary - Refined summary of chapter content
- Plot Points - Key events that occur in the chapter
Usage Scenarios:
- Learn the rhythm of chapter division
- Understand information distribution per chapter
- Study inter-chapter transitions
Character Information

AI extracts all important characters appearing in the novel and analyzes the following information:
- Character Name - Primary name of the character
- Aliases - Different titles, nicknames, etc. for the character in different scenes
- Description - Character's appearance, personality, background, etc.
- First Appearance - Chapter where the character first appears
- Relationships (optional) - When higher-cost analysis is enabled, shows the network of relationships with other characters

- Learn character development techniques
- Analyze character personality development arcs
- Understand relationship design when the optional relationship analysis mode is enabled
Plot Lines

AI identifies major plot lines in the novel, including:
- Story Lines - Complete plots spanning multiple chapters with beginning, development, climax, and resolution
- Core Goals - Main goals pursued by characters in the story
- Core Conflicts - Main contradictions driving plot development
- Plot Types - Such as adventure, romance, revenge, etc.
- Chapter Range - Chapters involved in the plot line
Usage Scenarios:
- Learn structural arrangement of multi-line narratives
- Understand the relationship between main and sub plots
- Analyze plot pacing control
World-Building Settings

AI extracts world-building settings from the novel, including:
- Power Systems - Such as cultivation levels, magic systems, skill settings, etc.
- World Structure - Geographic environment, social structure, faction distribution
- Key Factions - Detailed information on important organizations, sects, nations
- Special Rules - Unique rules and settings in the world

- Learn world-building methods
- Understand the combination of settings and plot
- Reference power system design
Golden Fingers

AI identifies special abilities of protagonists or important characters, including:
- Golden Finger Name - Name of special ability or system
- Type - Such as system, space, rebirth, etc.
- Description - Specific functions and limitations of the golden finger
- Evolution History - Development and changes of the golden finger in the story

- Understand the coordination of abilities and plot
- Analyze the impact of golden fingers on pacing
Timeline

AI organizes the event timeline in the novel:
- Event Sequence - Important events arranged by time
- Time Labels - Time points when events occur
- Related Chapters - Chapters corresponding to events
- Related Plots - Specific content of events
Material Details Page

The material details page uses a dual-column layout:
- Left Side: Category navigation tree, containing all categories like chapters, characters, plots, etc.
- Right Side: Detailed content display of selected items
Navigation Operations
- Click folder icon to expand/collapse categories
- Click on specific items to view detailed content
- Use the search box at the top for quick finding
Mobile Adaptation
On mobile phones, the material details page uses a single-column switching layout:
- Navigation tree displayed by default
- After selecting an item, switches to content details
- Click the back button in the top left corner to return to the navigation tree
Search Materials
On the material details page, you can quickly search for needed content:

- Enter keywords in the top search box
- The system searches for matching items in all categories
- Search results display in real-time in the navigation tree
Search scope includes:
- Chapter titles and summaries
- Character names and descriptions
- Plot line titles and summaries
- World-building setting content
- Golden finger names and descriptions
Delete Materials
When a material is no longer needed, you can delete it:

- On the Materials Library main page, hover over the material card
- Click the delete icon (trash can) that appears in the top right corner
- Click "Delete" in the confirmation dialog
Note: Deletion is irreversible, please proceed with caution.
Using Materials in Creation
The true value of the Materials Library lies in assisting your creation. Here are several common usage methods:
Method 1: View Materials in Left Sidebar

In the project editing interface, switch the left sidebar to the "Materials" tab:
- View imported material content
- Quickly browse reference information like characters, world-building, etc.
- Use as reference material during creation
Method 2: Reference Materials in AI Chat

When chatting with the AI assistant:
- Click the "Attach Material" button below the input box
- Select the material content you want to reference
- AI will reference the material content to understand and answer your questions
Usage Scenario Examples:
- "Please refer to the character development approach in [Material Name] to help me optimize this character"
- "Following the world-building style of [Material Name], help me design a new faction"
- "Learn from the rhythm of [Material Name] to help me plan this chapter's plot"
Method 3: Import Materials to Project
You can also directly import specific content from materials into the current project:
- On the material details page, select the content you want to import (such as characters, world-building)
- Use the import function to create project files from the content
- Modify and expand based on the import
Best Practices
Choose Appropriate Reference Materials
- Choose excellent works similar to your creative direction
- Choose novels with clear structure and high quality
- You can reference multiple works simultaneously, learning from each's strengths
How to Effectively Use Materials
- Don't copy - Materials are references, not copy templates
- Analyze the essence - Understand why it's designed this way, not just learn the surface
- Apply flexibly - Apply learned techniques to your own creation
- Multi-angle learning - Learn from multiple dimensions like characters, plot, settings, etc.

FAQ
Why does processing take so long?
Processing time depends on the novel's length and complexity. Long novels (over 500k words) may take 30-60 minutes. You can close the page, and the system will continue processing in the background.
What to do if processing fails?
Processing failure may be caused by the following reasons:
- File format issue - Ensure .txt file encoding is UTF-8
- File corruption - Re-download or export the source file and upload again
- Irregular content - Try organizing the text format before uploading
If multiple attempts still fail, please contact customer support for assistance.
Can material data be exported?
Material data currently does not support separate export. You can view all content on the material details page or import needed content into projects.
Will uploaded materials be seen by others?
No. Your Materials Library is private and only you can view it. The system will not use your materials for any other purposes.
